The RM and the Nearly-RM (7/8/2019)

Dear friends and family,

I finished my sister mission this past week! 18 months. I never thought I'd actually get this far. Crazy. I leave in December so just 5 more months. Pretty wild.

People to pray for: Forrest, who is on date for baptism next Saturday, the 20th. It's been interesting with him--I've never been on the fence this much with someone I've taught with regards to whether they can be baptized on their scheduled date or not. We just weren't sure if he was ready, and I kept going back and forth in my mind. Last lesson he committed to live one of the big commandments, but started growing really uncomfortable when we talked about tithing. I started to feel like well, guess this isn't happening for sure. But then once again a little ray of hope comes and we will be talking with his brother, who kinda manages Forrest's income, tomorrow. Pray that we get things sorted out and he'll be able to keep the law of tithing and be baptized!

Bruce. He was recently put on date. He's a really nice guy who we're working with and just needs to quit smoking (and a few other things) and he can get baptized by mid-September.

David. He was referred to us on the 4th of July. A real miracle! The lady who referred him called us, said she had talked to David for a few hours about how he wants to come closer to God, and then got his information for us. He wanted to come to church and came last week. He had a family emergency and was unable to make it this week however, but we had a lesson on Saturday evening that went really well. He's another one I'm really glad to be teaching! He's got a family too, who we hope to be also teaching soon.

Things are looking good. The other thing I wanted to share this week is when we went out with a member of our ward, an RM who got home about 6 months ago. It was super weird being out with a guy who is home but was serving while I have been serving. We tried by the guy we'd set up an appointment with but he had to cancel. The RM was totally willing to stay with us for the rest of our evening which was awesome. We eventually went to try by a person with interest named Steve. We found Steve on his porch and discovered that he had been in the hospital for several days and had gotten back recently. His health was pretty bad. As we talked we had a good conversation and somehow I just started to feel a real connection of love with the guy, like I could just feel that he's a really good person. The RM with us helped a lot and introduced him to the Book of Mormon. We haven't seen Steve since but we're going back tonight!

We got caught in a rainstorm Saturday, just after having biked a ton. Luckily I had my umbrella :) Everything is going really well. Hope all is well in wherever all of you are.

Love,
Elder Gallagher
