Wednesday P-Days Are Better, By The Way (6/13)

Dear friends, Our goal of baptizing by the end of the month is actually looking like it could happen. We met a former investigator named Michael who still remembers most of the lessons and is willing to be baptized--he just has to give up smoking, which we are helping him do. We also got a referral of a man who has been taught pretty much everything and has been to church 7 times, including this past Sunday. Sounds like he's ready to be baptized! We are meeting with him for the first time in a couple days and we plan to find out why the heck he didn't already have a baptismal date from whoever taught him before. But with those two guys, our goal is looking good! Thanks for the prayers! I finished the Book of Mormon yesterday. I had forgotten how powerful the last two chapters, especially, are. In Moroni 9, Mormon tells us about the horror of what societies become and what happens to them if they become godless. Humans "somehow" (because of Sat

Hi guys, It's been an interesting week. Elder Penny is gone and I'm now with Elder Henrie. He's amazing. I can't say the mission "changed" him cuz...well, I didn't know him before his mission! BUT I know it's done him a lot of good. He's such an understanding, level-headed, awesome guy. He's from Cedar City, pretty close to St. George! We were given a goal to try to baptize by month's end. It is going...well, slowly. Pray for a miracle cuz so far we haven't had much luck. This area is rough for finding people willing to meet with us more than once. By the way, on the first day with Elder Henrie, we found out that his mother, Mrs. Henrie, was my Biology teacher in junior year at DHHS. Pretty dang crazy. I found an amazing quote about the eternal destiny of men and women that I think might be from Joseph B. Wirthlin but I didn't write it down so who knows. “‘In our Heavenly Father’s great priesthood-endowed

Hey, Elder Penny's last full day is today. My new companion, who I will be meeting tomorrow, is Elder Henrie. Just when I thought I was gonna get back to being with "regular" missionaries now, I hear that Elder Henrie is ALSO in his last transfer. Hahaha... I'm gonna miss Elder Penny. It's been a very fun transfer. Looking forward to another in Westerville. There is a great conference talk I invite you all to read: "Pure Love: The True Sign of Every True Disciple of Jesus Christ", by Elder Massimo De Feo. It's been on my mind. I guess I'll just share my favorite part: Pure love is the true sign of every true disciple of Jesus Christ. I learned about pure love from my mother. She was not a member of the Church. One day many years ago, I visited my mother, who was struggling with cancer. I knew that she was going to die, but I was concerned that she was suffering. I didn’t say anything, but knowing me well, she said, “

Hey guys, Cheryl was baptized this past Saturday! Wish I could have been there. I'm happy for her though. Just imagine me in the attached picture... S. Gifford Nielsen of the Seventy came to visit us this past week for our Zone Conference, which was pretty great. He and his wife had a lot to share with us, which I would essentially boil down to "be a good missionary". It was a great opportunity. We have an investigator named Godwin we are working with who is at present our closest investigator to baptism. He took notes while we taught him the Plan of Salvation! I love him. It's pretty exciting. I will let you know how it goes. This week I want to share two talks from President Nelson. I was asked to start preparing a talk for a sacrament meeting next month and for it I've been researching "the gathering of Israel", which I really knew almost nothing about before. The way I learned about it was through these two amazing talks: "C
