OH My, A Year (4/15/2019)
Dear friends and family,
As of
tomorrow it will have been one full year that I have been in Ohio. One
year ago (tomorrow) I left the MTC. I haven't seen a mountain for an
entire year (minus a day and a half--gotta count the plane ride). I
haven't had lights in my ceiling or seen tumbleweeds on the ground or
eaten at a Cafe Rio or Jack In-The-Box for a WHOLE YEAR (tomorrow)! I
can't believe it was nearly a year ago that I first arrived and met my
first Ohio companion, the man I miss a lot, Elder Penny (who has now
been married for like 4 months, by the way).
I
have indeed come to love this place with its flatness and absurd
humidity. Springtime is upon us and it's occasionally lovely. Sometimes
the people are nice too. Haha just joking..
I
finished Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage a day or two ago. It was
really great. Crazy how much more understanding can come about the
sometimes-confusingly recorded events in the New Testament! Pretty sweet
though. Definitely a must-read.
I have a BYU talk I want to recommend to you folks at home. It's called Happiness, Deceit, and Small Things by Brian K. Ashton, recently released from the Sunday School general presidency. Here is the link: https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/brian-k-ashton_happiness-deceit-small-things/
Love,
Elder Gallagher
