[Almost] Dog Food (8/12/2019)
Dear friends and family,
I don't know what to say about this week... Um... It felt like 3 days rather than a week. But a lot actually did happen.
Tuesday
we had a training visit from our district leader and during the course
of the evening we were trying by some people in a neighborhood when
suddenly a dog came up to us. It was kinda a scary dog, but that's
nothing new, I've seen a hundred scary dogs on my mission that came up
to me but didn't do anything. It was growling a bit but everything was
okay. Then I saw my companion start to brace himself--time sorta moved
slowly. He grabbed my arm and slowly we walked away. What was going on?
Well, my brain was processing rather slowly and I realized that the dog
was making some growling noises that I have never heard come from a
dog's mouth, baring its teeth menacingly at us. We backed away slowly
and it didn't come after us, but we abandoned our plans for that street.
That was quite the experience. Never have I been that threatened by a
dog before.
Wednesday we
had Zone Conference which was at Kirtland! I'd never been to the
Kirtland Stake Center before and it was pretty cool. Probably the most
enjoyable conference in a while. I only have 2 or 3 left...
Updates
on our people being taught... not much to say really. Bruce is doing
okay, it's still just impossible to get him to church as there's always
something else going on. Maryjean was gonna come with her cousin to
Stake Conference but...they slept in. D'oh! Ashley messaged us rather
abruptly that she is staying with her mom down south and thinks she
isn't coming back to Warren. Kinda lame news. There aren't even
missionaries in her area right now so hopefully we can still video call
her or something, but nothing has been figured out yet.
Not
much else happening that I can share. Let's just say that after 19
months you start facing different challenges than you have when you
first come out...
Overall things are great though, I've got nothing to complain about. Enjoying life. Hope all of you are doing well too.
Love,
Elder Gallagher
