Elder Miller's Last Week (9/26/2018)
Hey everybody,
The theme of
this transfer has been "I don't have much time to write". Haha. We've
been busy almost every week. I think we had one week where we weren't.
Oh well.
So I finished
the New Testament this morning. It was a good time. I enjoyed it
overall. The important thing to know about the New Testament is its
applicability is limited since the majority of it consists of letters
written to address specific groups of people. I would think of it as if
someone took letters sent by members of our modern Quorum of the Twelve
to other General Authorities or Officers and made those letters into a
book of scripture. A lot of it would contain good, true stuff, worth a
read, but not quite on the same level as records of Christ himself in
the Gospels and 3 Nephi or records of history and sermons like Acts
(though I admit I didn't get much out of Acts, I need to read that
again) or the Old Testament or the rest of The Book of Mormon. The
general epistles in the New Testmant, though, are always great--sorta
like General Conference talks in terms of universal applicability.
I
plan to re-read the Gospels soon because I haven't read them for
numerous months. Marking up all the JSTs in the text is gonna take a
while though. Also gonna start reading the Doctrine and Covenants.
I
hope you're all reading Saints. It's very good stuff. Lots of things I
didn't know about and several things I didn't think they would even
address, like Joseph Smith's Masonic connections. I'm over halfway done
and excited for more.
Elder
Miller's last days are approaching. This transfer went by quickly. It
was a good time. I'll update more next week, I promise...
Attached are a couple pictures of Ohio's quaint beauty. And the "album cover" I made for our district's "band".
Love,
Elder Gallagher
