May You Be The Fourth (11/7/2018)

Hello everyone,

Before we begin today there is some business to take care of. P-days are changing to Mondays. (There, I said it.) My feelings about this are not, not, not, positively un-negative. This will be effective November 19th. The area presidency has spoken--we are conforming to the rest of the world's missions and joining the Monday P-day cause. At least District Councils will be on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays.

This has been a super spiritual week. I know now, personally, that spiritual gifts are real, that the Spirit is an active being, that the Gift of the Holy Ghost is a true gift, and that God truly does not leave us comfortless; He will come to us. "He hath filled me with His love, even to the consuming of my flesh."

The best thing that happened was something that I have been wanting ever since I came out on the mission.............

WE FOUND A FAMILY TO TEACH!!!!

I am super grateful that we have begun teaching this family. The mother is named Jordan and the father is Bobby. Not only have we started teaching them, but they are very prepared for the gospel. Both of them, but especially Bobby, are searching for the truth, are very inquisitive, and are willing to read the Book of Mormon and continue to hear us out. Please, please pray for them as they read the Book of Mormon that their questions will be answered and that they will be able to feel the Spirit!

The next most amazing thing that happened this week was reading a talk called "The Fourth Missionary". Our fine District Leader Elder Parker Smith gave it to us to read, for which I am very grateful. The Belief Window talk that I talked about some weeks ago was amazing and I said that it seemed to me like the secret to life. I now say that that talk contains 1/2 of the secret to life while this talk contains the other 1/2. I could share some quotes from it but I can't possibly pick the best ones since the entire thing is incredible. So just read it. Yes, it's 24 pages long but just read it, guys, I promise you it will change your life if you haven't yet realized the principles it teaches. Even if you have, a reminder is always good.

Basically though his message is that there are four basic kinds of missionaries: the first missionary (disobedient, goes home early), the second missionary (disobedient, completes his mission), the third missionary (obedient, resents having to follow God's will), and the fourth missionary (obedient, submits fully to God's will). Neither the first, second, nor third missionaries are changed by their missions, he says; even though the third missionary does good things and changes his behavior, he does not change his nature.

I could share more because again this talk is INCREDIBLE...but I will let you all read it.

Gotta go.

Love,
Elder Gallagher
