Dear friends and family, So as I said last week, I am training a new missionary! His name is Elder Whitcomb. He's from New York like myself and he is a two-transfer missionary just like I was. I was very surprised by that. Training is really hard. Hah. We had a lot of cool teaching experiences this week... I'll start from the beginning. So Elder Pay and I had our last proselyting evening together on Wednesday evening. Inexplicably I started feeling this weird self-confidence come out of nowhere. I felt super awesome, like I was more "myself" than I had been for weeks. Things kind of come together in my mind; I understood why Elder Pay had been my companion. At least in part, it was to prepare me for training a new missionary. I thanked God for this completely beyond-explanation chemical reaction that happened when I combined with Elder Pay that somehow at the very end of our companionship made me feel awesome. Incredible News (11/4/2019)

Dear friends and family, We've been trying our best to make things happen in Mansfield. Progress has been a little bit slow. Adapting to new areas isn't my favorite thing. Hard to know if you're doing your best. But we're doing okay overall. So we got some incredible news... an apostle is visiting our mission. I've been waiting my entire mission for something like this. Dieter F. Uchtdorf is coming to visit the Ohio Columbus Mission on November 23rd. The entire mission will be together which in and of itself is unprecedented at least in my time. I am very much looking forward to that. In other news, I started My Plan this week, which is a 6-week program for missionaries when they are in their last transfer in order to prepare them for their return home and ensure they transition well. It's kinda weird because I've already partly gone through it with the three missionaries I killed off (Elder Penny, Elder Henrie, and Elder Miller ...

Cool People Stories (3/20/2019)

Dear friends, Transfers are upon us. We are both staying in Reynoldsburg though! Let me tell you about some cool people we met this past week. So we got a Bible referral for a guy named Shane. We stopped by and find they're moving into this place. His friend's name is Amy. They accepted the Bible and we started chatting about our role as missionaries, their faith in Christ (which was really great), and the Book of Mormon. They accepted a copy! It was so good. We didn't teach much of the Restoration at that point but we laid a super solid foundation and they were so nice and ready to meet again. We were going to meet with them again in a couple days but they texted and had to reschedule. Then they had to cancel. Then we stopped by again and though they were home, they wouldn't open the door and they shut the blinds. Things like that happen a lot as a missionary. It can get pretty disheartening if you allow it. We don't know why they aren...
