With the 'Bula Boys (7/24/2019)

Dear friends and family,

This past week we had exchanges with the Ashtabula elders. Two exchanges in fact (we had to cram them into a single week). Ashtabula is a cool area, it borders Lake Erie. I got to see it for the first time (I think?). One of the 'Bula elders is my old companion Elder Lewis and we had a blast the day we were together.

Transfers are upon us (tomorrow). One of our Zone Leaders finished his mission and his companion Elder Mathews was put with us for a few days before transfers. We went to pick up Elder Mathews a couple days ago at the point where the departing missionaries from this area of the mission were getting picked up to go home. The vehicle arrived and I got to say goodbye to some friends. It was crazy. My stomach felt weird as we left. (Mission) death is a serious thing.

So now we're in a trio until tomorrow. Elder Davis will be leaving and I'll be staying and getting a new companion, Elder Hacking.

Life isn't always easy... obviously. One spiritual nugget I benefitted from in the most recent Ensign is "Uncommon Sense: How Christ’s Teachings Changed Everything". Check it out! Here's a quote to close me out:

"Giving up your life in service can lead you to find solutions and resolutions to your own complex problems."

Jesus Christ has helped me see how I can overcome the things that never should have been overcomeable. I promise that's real for everyone.

Love,
Elder Gallagher
