Something New (6/12/2019)
Alright, I don't want to spend too much time cuz we have a lot going on. And I have to pack.
Because
I'm getting transferred to Warren! It's way up north. Further north and
a lot further east than Ashland was. My new companion will be Elder
Davis. I don't really know him but I'm excited to see something new.
Some bullet points about this past week from my notes:
• The Nepali kids who actually called the number we left them (we
went to knock on a door with some Nepali stuff on it. Dead giveaway for
a Nepali household. We were thinking we could get a referral for the
Nepali elders. No one was home. Just then, three Nepali kids ages 6-12
showed up from a nearby apartment and said "Hey, we wanna go to church!"
We were like..."Yeah! Awesome!" We gave them the Nepali pamphlet I
carry around that has the Nepali Elders' number on it and they said they
would call him. They claimed that their parents were on board with the
idea of going to church but we weren't entirely sure. Coolest thing
is...THEY ACTUALLY DID CALL! And they actually did come to church!! It
was really awesome. They were really fun kids. They said my Nepali isn't
very good.
• How negativity becomes a form of pride; yield to the enticings of the Holy Spirit; God is always right, you are not
(I was gonna write more about this but I don't really have time so
suffice to say that I've realized more than before that since God says
to be positive and God knows everything, be positive. If you don't
you're essentially telling God you know better than He does...)
• I wrote a song for the new hymnbook: please turn off your devices - it's making us all irate - no one wants to hear those beeps - tell your kids Minecraft can wait! (I bet it will make the cut, don't you?)
That's pretty much it.
Wait
no, we also had a baptism. So yeah, Clara (the 9-year-old whose Mom
came back to church after many decades) got baptized! We didn't get a
picture with her but the member who baptized her (he's not her dad) got
one so here you go. Elder Whitcomb got to do her confirmation on Sunday,
which was very very special. It was a good experience for the family.
We're going to swing by them tonight and deliver some mediocre cookies I
baked. Don't tell them!
Love,
Elder Gallagher
PICS:
The
baptism, and pictures from the Franklin Avenue Community Garden that
we've been volunteering with in Columbus. We did a lot of work on it
over the past few months!
