A W.E.I.L. of a Time (6/27)
Hey guys,
Remember last week when I talked about letting the Spirit work through you? (You remember.) Well I read a cool little Ensign story about that very thing. It's called "Letting Go of My Fear" from the January 2012 issue.
And then I had a similar experience. Three weeks ago (I believe) Elder Henrie and I gave talks in sacrament meeting on missionary work. That was interesting. Then last week, a young woman came up to us, told us that she had started a mission in the Philippines, come home due to medical complications, and had been debating going back out for some time. She told us that listening to our talks helped her finalize her decision to go back out there! Wow. That's really cool. Stuff like that is happening all the time.
One thing I learned while researching my talk was that God's kingdom (AKA this church) will never again apostasize like it did in the primitive church. How do we know this? Daniel (you know, the lion guy) prophesied so! I don't have time to find the references but in the Book of Daniel it talks about the kingdom of God being built in the last days and never falling! That means we don't have to worry that the Church will be led astray. That's why we trust the prophet--because God promised us that we could.
Lately I've had a question on my mind. More of a conundrum. It is: "What Even Is Life?" Abbreviated thusly: "W.E.I.L.". Being a missionary is just odd. It's so different. What is it gonna be like when I get back? Life can't ever be the same again. That's kinda weird. I don't know what life is supposed to be like anymore. But thankfully, I guess, I don't have to worry about that for quite some time.
But there were worries, let me tell you. This past week, for reasons I can't really explain, has been the most difficult week I can remember in a long time. I nearly quit. But...I didn't.
I know now that having Christ as our foundation truly is the way for us not to fall. We can come close, sure (like I did), but if we have Christ as our foundation we cannot fall.
That's another pretty awesome promise.
Love,
Elder Gallagher
P.S. A meme, a district picture, and a serious district picture where I look like I want to murder the cameraman.
